Priorities in SEO
With all the tasks required to successfully run an SEO campaign it may be a little confusing trying to figure out where to dedicate more time and what aspects are okay with a little less. Here are a few tips to get you started.
Keywords are extremely important, especially if you are also using PPC. You should always spend some time updating your list to keep it relevant. You may watch your current keywords and get rid of the ones that aren’t returning any results over a specific period of time or look for new ways to phrase the things you offer. Either way keywords are extremely dynamic when you are bidding on them and need to have a close eye kept on them.
Linking is also something that requires a fair bit of attention. Ideally you should be consistently receiving quality links. You should keep track of who is linking to your site as well as updating people you’d like to link to or have link to you. Keep these lists organized by the site’s status and ranking strength.
Another thing you should be doing is tracking your site statistics. Whether your using Webstats or Google Analytics, you want to know your web site statistics. Who is coming to your site? How are they finding you? Take that information and use it to tweak your site, keywords and campaigns to enhance your SEO.
Finally, track your competitors’ sites. Are they bidding more for certain keywords, getting more links or increasing their PageRank? It’s important to know what’s happening in your space so that you can stay on top of the trends and the SERPs.
Determining your SEO priorities just takes a little bit of thought and planning, but the results are definitely worth it.
