Critical SEO Mistakes Bloggers Make
Some bloggers successfully create high-quality and informative blog entries, but make critical mistakes in the search engine optimization (SEO) of their blogs. Such mistakes reduce the amount of traffic their blogs receive from search engines, thus making it more time-consuming and/or expensive to gain new readers. Read on to learn about four critical SEO mistakes which a number of bloggers frequently make…
1. Putting all entries on the same page: Some bloggers add all of their blog entries to the same long webpage, rather than to make individual pages for each blog entry. Due to low keyword density, such pages are less likely to show up on the first page of search results for any keyword relating to a particular blog entry. Also, people who do reach them via a search engine may find it difficult to locate the particular blog entry they are interested in.
2. Improper keyword usage: Using a title with words which are not repeated in the blog entry is not helpful for SEO efforts. Some or all words (depending upon what type of words they are) from the title should be occasionally repeated in the blog entries (search engines use this to determine if a page is relevant to its title) but not excessively. Bloggers should avoid very short entries (under 100 words), these are more likely to have critical keyword usage mistakes and make it harder to optimize.
3. Posting about very general subjects: Bloggers who create blog entries on very general, broad topics aren’t likely to achieve much success in SEO, because of the competition they face. For example, an entry about a blogger’s critical or positive opinion of Apple computers is much less likely to appear among top search results for relevant keywords than an entry about the Apple Macintosh LC III or Macintosh-compatible word processing software.
4. Same title on every entry: At least a few bloggers make the critical SEO mistake of using the same general title tag for every page on their web site, including all of their blog entries. Such mistakes make it harder for individual entries to reach the top search result listings, and will reduce the chance that search engine users will click on them; people will see the title of the blogger’s web site, not a specific blog entry title relevant to what they are searching for, and may overlook it if they don’t read the description.
